Fold It, Break It

How to break things

On iPhone and iPad, put a finger on each end of the object and drag them down, like snapping a stick by hand. How far you drag is how far it bends, and how fast you drag counts the way a fold does. Past its breaking point, it breaks.

On iPhone Duo

The hinge does the folding: open the phone flat and the object is put down across the crease; fold the phone and it bends with it. Close the phone after a break and the outer screen shows how you did. To drag the ends instead, turn off "Fold with the hinge" in Settings.

The chapters

Each chapter adds a skill. Snap: fold far enough. Quick: finish fast, or wood splinters. Gentle: fold slowly, or glass shatters. Hold: bend to the mark and hold it there. Sequence: several breaks, each on its line. Timing and Tempo: the object moves, so fold as its line crosses the crease. Objects open in order; break one clean to open the next.

Marks

A clean break earns up to three marks, for how well you did it: one steady fold, a quick finish, a slow hand, a steady hold, or a catch right on the line. Play any object again to better its marks.

Progress

Your progress is kept on your device and, if you're signed in to iCloud, in your iCloud, so your other devices and a reinstall pick it up. To start again, open Settings and choose "Start again". "Show the tutorial again" brings back the first hints.

Sound and haptics

Every object makes its own sounds and haptics as it bends and breaks. Turn either off in Settings. The sounds follow your device's silent switch.
